Testimonials

Don’t take our word for it, see what our Koa families have to say about their experience with our school.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of education and support my children receive at this school. Their commitment to small, focused engagement classes has had a remarkable impact on my two daughters’ confidence and understanding of the learning material. The guidance provided by their Pod Teachers is consistent, personalized, and genuinely supportive. One of the most valuable aspects of this school is the environment it creates - one where students feel comfortable communicating openly about any areas of confusion or difficulty. This immediate feedback loop helps eliminate unnecessary anxiety and uncertainty, particularly when preparing for tests, assignments, and exams. The positive changes at home have been significant. My daughters are no longer anxious about school or schoolwork, which has created a much calmer and more balanced home environment. They are enthusiastic about starting their day, completing their work, and attending their sessions. "I am also deeply appreciative of the school’s commitment to inclusivity. It is clear that every student feels seen, supported, and valued. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the school and the level of care and professionalism they provide. It has truly been a transformative experience for my daughters and our family. "

"Koa Academy gets everything right, from a supportive and fun learning environment to being modern and on trend with everything they do. My kids are seen, heard, and supported. They are happier, more confident, and more enthusiastic about school. Since moving to Koa Academy, my child's anxiety levels have been hugely reduced, and I've started to see my child start to shine instead of struggle on a daily basis."

“What I love about Koa Academy is precisely that they have NOT done a direct bricks and mortar to online translation. This is NOT school as you've always known it, just online. As an ex-schoolteacher myself, I can see they have genuinely re-thought every aspect of education (not just school) and tried to find the most effective ways to truly educate children as a whole person, with the knowledge and the skills they will need for the future.”

“As a neurodiverse learner, the ability to work at his own pace has been a game-changer. The smaller class structure means he knows his Pod mates and teacher much better than in a traditional school, creating a supportive and comfortable environment. Koa’s platform is incredible, making learning more accessible and enjoyable for him.”

“Koa is really the best. Their communications is always on point. My child is very happy with Koa, which is a priority for me. His marks have really improved since he moved to Koa. The socials are always great, and Mark always ensures he interacts with parents. Thank you Mark for such great leadership.”

"Life-changing for my daughter. We switched to Koa Academy for her first year of online school after traditional schooling left her increasingly anxious and withdrawn. It was a leap of faith, but it’s been the best decision. Her anxiety has dropped, she’s so much more confident, speaks freely without fear of judgment, and now happily chats about her day instead of just saying “fine.” The courses are engaging and fun, and the Pods help her connect with friends through games and conversation. I was worried about socializing, but Koa makes a real effort - and it shows. She’s blossoming in this safe, supportive environment. Highly recommend!"

"My daughter has been with Koa since Grade 8 and is now in Grade 10. She absolutely loves Koa and the freedom it gives her to work at her own pace, but with a guideline of where she should be at. The teachers are always willing to assist and guide her through everything. Was the best decision to take her out of mainstream, as she has thrived in this environment. We also love their EduOutings and socials so that she can meet other online kids."

"KOA WAS OUR LIFESAVER They deserve more than 5 stars. My child has never been happier and more calmer with school and the work they have. Koa was a lifesaver for my daughter in a time when she just was not coping emotionally, going from a small school to a HUGE high school environment. She is so diligent, loves what she is learning, and has learnt how to manage her time effectively. If you are a parent with a child that just "hates" school, investigate why. It's not always that the child is just full of nonsense or lazy; sometimes, it's an underlying reason. And if you are looking for another option, Koa is your answer. You won't be sorry. Now, don't think because it's online your child won't get out or meet other kids. The social side is great, and they do school outings and have social gatherings every term. And you would be surprised by how many kids near you belong to Koa! So go investigate. And I am sure that you won't be disappointed."

“Koa Academy - A perfect precursor to tertiary education and life. I came from a mainstream school to Koa in matric which, at first, stressed me out. Could I do online school, could I adapt to a new way of learning and a different way of teaching?

However, with Koa’s excellent teachers and easy educational platforms I was able to catch on quickly and achieve excellence. Not only have the self-studying aspects of Koa prepared me for the intensity of a Bachelor of Science at The University of Cape Town but they also taught me to prioritize my work. The problem solving and motivational skills that Koa taught me have been implemented into my personal life from international solo travel to etiquette in the workspace.

Time management is crucial in all spheres of life and this became clear to me at Koa where an app called “Clockify” was used to manage time and prioritize specific subjects. I still use and rave about this app in my studies.

The flexibility of work hours at Koa allowed me to continue to work hard and achieve in surfing where I was able to get adequate exercise each day, represent my province in SA junior surfing champs and SA open champs in my matric year. I found this balance crucial for hard work and motivation.

Whatever my reasons were for choosing Koa, it was the right choice, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities and skills they have provided."

“We have loved the dynamic learning that Koa encourages. This is not classroom education reworked, this is Education 2.0, wonderfully thought out and executed. Koa also goes beyond the simple transference of knowledge - they take a deep interest in each child: their lives, their loves and their joys and struggles. We are very thankful to be a part of Koa.”
